Ideas are the Beans that Grow your BUSINESS.

I'm all about growth, and that extends beyond the metaphorical growth of your agency into the
real growth of flora and fauna on this earth. I want to encourage everyone to work hard to
decrease their carbon footprint so that real plants and animals can continue to grow and thrive.
If we can slay that giant – leave behind a smaller footprint and do less damage to the planet – we’ve
done our job... Especially in advertising.

This is simply one of my passions, and I do realize that it is not possible to always line up the stars and accomplish this goal.

To that end, I pride myself on trying to choose printers that have paper and ink options that are biodegradable and eco-friendly without running up the cost. From my experience it can sometimes be more affordable, and without jeopardizing the quality... in fact in my opinion it often gives a project more integrity. Not everyone realizes it is possible to be “green” without spending more “green.”

Here are some fun and interesting tips for your office and home (some are obvious):

BE Green - Office

1.   Carpool to work or work from home when possible.
2.   Turn off equipment when it's not being used.
3.   Encourage communications by email.
4.   Use a fax-modem to send faxes directly from a computer and use a fax cover sheet only
      when necessary.
5.   Produce double-sided documents whenever possible.
6.   Do not leave taps dripping.
7.   Place one or two plastic containers filled with stones [not bricks] in the toilet tank.
8.   Find a supply of paper with maximum available recycled content.
9.   Before deciding whether you need to purchase new office furniture, see if your existing
      office  furniture can be refurbished.
10. Use green-friendly vendors in order to encourage companies of all kinds to be more green
      in their operations.

BE Green - home

1.   Replace appliances older than 10 years with Energy Star-qualified ones.
2.   Turn down the thermostat in cold weather and keep it higher in warm weather.
3.   Turn the water off when you brush your teeth.
4.   Make your own cleaning products using plain soap, water, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate),       vinegar, washing soda (sodium carbonate), lemon juice and borax and save money at
      the same time..
5.   Use Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs.
6.   Buy "tree-free" 100% post-consumer recycled paper for everything from greeting cards to
      toilet paper.
7.   Opt for Bamboo when shopping for hardwood floors.
8.   Reduce, re-use and recycle your plastics.
9.   Use zero- or low-VOC paint.
10. Use compost in your garden instead of synthetic fertilizers.
